Poll: when #UPS #USPS ?

OK, so here's a story. I get home yesterday from work and my mailbox is shattered, in pieces all over the sidewalk. A Federal crime, I might add. Anyway, so I'm like "wth", get out of car, walk over to wreckage, figuring "OK, someone lost control, and didn't have the decency to own up to it." Over comes my neighbor. "I noticed your mailbox is trashed. Come on over here."

Well, my neighbor — best neighbor you could want — has a security device hooked up on his garage that recorded this event.

In the video, a grainy, totally brown, totally UPS van is seen trying to back out of my neighbor-across the street and hitting my mailbox.

In the video, the driver is seen to hit my mailbox, pull over to the side of the road, and check what he did. Then he took off. (incidentally, no less than three other cars drove by during this time, I live on a busy side-street in my big city whatever).

But that’s not what he told his boss.  Wait, back up a bit.

So my neighbor shows me the video. Yep, that’s big and brown. UPS.

So next step is to call UPS and USPS.

To make a long story short, I am getting a new mailbox out of UPS, a company, by the way, that I hold in high regard, who I don’t hold any animosity to the young man who made a mistake either.

USPS is all side-eyed. ← edited, so, I had to go to the United States Post Office to put a hold on my mail. The employee there wasn’t really upset, I had just chided her that UPS is the USPS competition. MB is game-speak for “my bad”.
